Imagery of vampires, blood and danger, mysterious and sexy. It’s all a particular aesthetic. You will find it coloured in many new upcoming music artist’s work, the gaming industry and art galleries particularly in Japan, Korea, USA and UK. This article will discuss the features of the vampire wave that has been uprising in the music/art cultures in most recent years.

I believe that as technology is speeding up we are arguably losing our sense of what it is to be human. Creatives are expressing themselves and calling us to remember what it is to be human. Why? I will get into that later but lets cover the appealing factors to the youth. Vampires see humans as fragile and small but are obsessed with them because of their need for blood consumption. Human beings are obsessed with technology in and around about the same way. There is the edgy fashion sense. The attitude. The passionate love/hate situation with vampires and humans(very similar to each other). There are countless vampire movies such as the Twilight franchise, Underworld and Blade which all have cult followings and impacted culture in a huge way.
One could take the view that the vampire wave is satanic in inception and promotes the occult. That it is ruining relationships and fostering another ‘lost generation’. However, I believe it goes deeper than that. The theory I have in mind is the vampire wave points to the shedding of human blood. It implies that man is mortal, not immortal like that of Artificial Intelligence. This may also imply that humans need a saviour. Christ who is the Son of God, the Heavenly Father was sent to become man and live as a man also shed his blood for us. This was to wash away the sins of those that would accept Christ as their Lord and saviour. So that they would be reconciled back to the father.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

True vampire culture is Not what the vampire wave is. Vampire culture is a real subculture of goth subculture and consists of organised events of fictional representations of vampire culture(books and other media) vampire role playing, and blood fetish events with actual blood letting and drinking. The vampire wave looks dangerous and edgy on the outside, appealing to young creatives worldwide, but at its core is more profound and has depth with its parallels to human beings. In particular the obsessive tendencies and fashion. Similar to Michael Jackson’s Thriller Music video, the wave is an artistic device to get our attention to then steer us towards something God-like.
