PlayStation Steps Into Streetwear: A Winning Move

PlayStation is making a bold move into the world of streetwear, and it's clear they’re not just playing games. The iconic gaming brand is launching collaborations that show a keen understanding of current fashion trends. Surprisingly, PlayStation’s streetwear collaborations look exceptionally good, proving they’ve got their finger on the pulse of style.

In its latest venture, PlayStation has teamed up with F.C. Real Bristol, a football lifestyle brand, and SOPH., a well-known Japanese fashion label. Together, they’ve created a retro football-inspired collection that stands out for all the right reasons.

The collection is substantial, with 28 pieces that cover everything a fictional PlayStation-sponsored football club might need. From oversized ‘90s-style football shirts to warm-up tracksuits and even what looks like a goalkeeper shirt, this drop has it all. If you’re dressing your five-a-side team in this gear, you’re guaranteed to be the best-dressed amateurs on the pitch.

While the collection sticks to the familiar territory of football-inspired fashion, it’s the PlayStation logo that really takes things up a notch. At the end of the day, a great streetwear brand is often defined by its logo—a symbol that turns simple products into coveted items. Supreme has its box logo, Palace has the tri-ferg, and PlayStation boasts its iconic 3D “PS” logo.

This collection, available from 23rd August, isn’t PlayStation’s only foray into the streetwear scene. Next year, the legendary Nike x PlayStation Air Force 1 sneaker is making a comeback. This highly sought-after trainer, which fetches over £5,500 on resale sites, is set to be one of the biggest sneaker drops of 2025.

What better way to complement your Nike x PlayStation trainers than with a full PlayStation x SOPH. x F.C. Real Bristol tracksuit? PlayStation is building a comprehensive streetwear wardrobe, one that’s sure to make waves in the fashion world.

Typically adorned with straps and sporty panels, this new slip-on version is made entirely from EVA rubber, adding to the foam mule trend. While the upper is minimalist, the sole retains the anatomical, spiky design of the original Mostro, now even more striking due to the shoe’s simplified form. Keen to snag a pair for summer? You’ll have to wait until next year. Pre-orders are available on the LGN website for $150, with deliveries starting January 15, 2025 (never too early to plan those summer outfits). PUMA’s archive is rich with experimental designs (take a look at models like the Satori, Yutori Fuyu, and Mikoshi for proof). The Mostro was reintroduced this year, embracing its unconventional roots with daring designs like spiky 3-D printed versions, silver sci-fi styles, and knee-high boots, showcased at PUMA’s New York fashion show.

The PUMA Mostro revival rolls on, now stepping into the mule trend.
